If you paddle often, deflate your board between each use, and want to inflate your board in a fraction of the time it takes compared to using a manual hand pump, then you need the Sea Eagle BTP pump. There are many different types of electric pumps on the market, but this particular model comes loaded with all the adapters you need, a powerful motor, and a two-stage inflation process that will ensure your board is precisely inflated to the correct PSI level. You couldn’t ask for more.

Our Verdict: The Sea Eagle BTP Mano electric pump comes equipped with a two-stage inflation process that will precisely inflate your board to the correct PSI level. This package includes seven adapters, so you’re sure to find one that’s compatible with your board, kayak, air mattress, raft, or pool toys. The powerful motor will quickly and efficiently inflate your board in eight minutes or less. The automatic shut-off feature makes using the pump a totally hands-off process, so you can set up your board, power on the pump and focus on unloading your gear. The pump lacks a deflation feature, which is a surprise considering the price tag. Additionally, the pump’s hose may leak a little when you use certain adapters, which can significantly slow down the inflation process. Ultimately, this pump is a great buy, if you don’t mind the lack of a deflation mode or the fact that some of the adapters don’t form a perfect seal.

 Overview and Features

A board that’s not inflated correctly can make it difficult for you to get on your paddle board, paddle, and guide your board down tight channels. Because of this, it’s crucial that you follow the board manufacturer’s recommendations and inflate the board to the correct PSI level. Some pumps are easier to use than others and can make it difficult to reach the precise PSI level. Fortunately, this model comes with important features that allow the pump to handle all the work, without requiring you to closely monitor the inflation process.

This two-stage pump will quickly inflate your board with its powerful motor and efficient performance. It comes with several valve attachment options, so it works for all styles and types of SUPs, kayaks, air mattresses, and other types of inflatables. It’s also a great pump to have on hand if you need to inflate more than one board, back to back.

Our Rating: (4.5/5)

  • Two-stage inflation process
  • Lightweight
  • Powerful
  • Carry bag
  • Seven attachments
  • Low price

Two-Stage Inflation

This model offers a couple of different inflation stages. The first stage is designed for the initial inflation process. This is a low-pressure model designed to inflate the board up to the first few PSI, after which it will switch to the high-pressure mode that’s designed to slowly and efficiently finish inflating the board to the desired PSI level. This second phase is much louder than the first stage, but it does a great job of getting your board as rigid as possible.

Automatic Shut-Off

If you don’t feel like babysitting your board while it inflates, you don’t have to, thanks to the automatic shut-off feature. The pump will automatically shut off once it reaches the desired PSI level. This feature works to prevent over-inflation, which can cause serious damage to your board. Dial in the desired PSI level and the pump will handle the rest.

Alligator Clips

The included alligator clips are designed to attach directly to your vehicle’s battery, for a faster, more powerful inflation process.

Hose

The included hose is ten-feet long, giving you plenty of length to set your board on the ground, attach the pump to your vehicle’s battery, and allow the pump to handle the rest of the work. The length gives you plenty of room to maneuver, without any tension in the hose.

Carry Bag

The included carry bag is large enough to accommodate the attachments, the pump, and any accessories. It also makes it easier to transport the pump and keep all of the attachments together, in one spot, so you don’t lose them. It also features two zippered compartments so you can keep the attachments and accessories organized.

PSI

The pump can handle inflating any type of high-pressure inflatable up to fifteen PSI. This may be a drawback for some buyers, especially those that want to use this model to inflate their kayaks and rafts that have a higher PSI level. Unfortunately, the pump doesn’t offer a deflation feature, which would allow you to use the pump to deflate your board and pack up your gear quickly. The AIRHEAD Hi Pressure Air Pump is one of Sea Eagle’s top competitors and it’s available at a more affordable price and offers a deflation function that can deflate a board in under five minutes. You can learn more about this best-selling pump in my Airhead Hi Pressure air pump review.

If you need to inflate your board and ensure it’s as rigid as possible for paddle board yoga, long-distance touring, or racing, then you need a pump that’s capable of inflating your board to the correct PSI level. Fortunately, this pump is compatible with a variety of styles and types of SUPs, so you can ensure your board is ready for heavy-duty use.

Use

Some buyers may struggle to attach the standard Halkey-Roberts adapter to the hose attachment. Securely attaching it can be difficult since the pump exudes such a high level of air pressure, causing some air to leak around the gasket when the power is turned all the way up. This leakage can make the inflation process longer. Instead of using the Halkey-Roberts attachment, use the number one adapter and place it on the hose approximately a quarter of an inch from the bar. Don’t twist the adapter on, simply push it in place. The two-phase inflation process ensures the pump doesn’t overdo it when trying to reach the precise PSI level. The automatic shut-off feature will come in handy, allowing you to simply dial in the correct PSI level, switch the pump on and unload your vehicle while the pump is hard at work. The pump is fast, with an eight-minute inflation time. It’s easy to use, highly portable and comes with a long hose, seven attachments, and everything you need to inflate low and high-pressure inflatables.
