The Tower Paddle Boards Adventurer features a solid design that makes it easy to handle out in the open water. The SUP also paddles well despite the fact that it’s wider and shorter than competing models. The compact design helps to improve the board’s stability but does nothing to improve speed and agility.
Read on to learn more about what this board by Tower Paddle Boards has to offer.
Overview and Features
The board is six inches thick and handles well for an inflatable SUP of this size. This level of thickness is perfect if you’re looking for a rigid board that can handle a heavier paddle boarder.
At nine feet, ten-inches long, this model isn’t designed for whitewater use and will definitely experience some drag in a fast-moving current, however, if you’re not looking for a board you can use to challenge the rapids, this board can be the perfect choice in the right water conditions.
Typically, short SUPs aren’t the best option for paddling around on a lake, however, the manufacturer makes up for the lack of length with an extra-large fin that really improves the board’s tracking ability, allowing it to smoothly glide across the water.
Although it’s under eleven feet in length it’s about as wide as your average longer paddle board at thirty-two inches.
The board itself weighs twenty-four pounds, making it heavier than its top competitor, the longer, iROCKER CRUISER inflatable stand up paddle board. Although it can’t quite measure up in regard to how it handles a variety of water conditions, we still maintain that it’s a solid board that would work best for beginners.
This is seriously a sturdy little board.
How sturdy you ask?
It has a four hundred pound max user weight, which is around one hundred pounds more than any other mode we’ve reviewed. It’s also made out of heavy-duty, military grade PVC drop-stitch material.
The extra-large removable fin does wonders in terms of tracking ability and performance. The other two fins are fixed in place and help with the board’s tracking as well.
When you’re paddling around in flatwater you’ll need to attach the main fin.
Most riders weren’t that happy with this attachment. While the fin works well, it has to be attached to the board via a hex screw. While the screw keeps the fin securely attached, the part is very small, so it’s easy to lose track of it. It also takes a bit of effort to attach the fin properly with the screw, which can be frustrating for beginners.
The board is covered by a two-year product warranty against production and workmanship defects. Considering the price, the length of the warranty is impressive.
In terms of design, the board is pretty basic, but it comes equipped with all the features the beginner needs, with all the extras they don’t. The manufacturer keeps the price low by focusing more on functionality opposed to flash.
This extremely compact SUP doesn’t offer a lot of extra space, but it should be enough for one rider and their pet. In the water, the thickness and stocky design prevent any dip in the middle.
The grooved surface of the deck improves the rider’s balance and feels comfortable on your feet.
In the middle of the board is a handhold strap, which will make transporting and hauling the board out of water much easier. The roll-up carrying strap allows you to clip the strap to a couple of D-rings, so transportation is a breeze, especially if you have a long walk to and from the car.
Why the Beginner Will Love this Board
Clearly, this board is an excellent choice for beginners. It’s also a durable paddle board that’s offered at a reasonable price. It features a pretty basic design, doesn’t come with many extras, but where it truly shines is stability. As a beginner, stability will be one of the most important features to look for. This board has a reputation for providing a solid performance, whether you’re paddling around on a calm lake or trying out some new yoga poses. While it may not be the fastest board on the block, what it lacks in speed it definitely makes up for in stability and overall quality.
In truth, this is the perfect board to learn on. It’s great for users of all sizes and skill levels, just as long as the buyer has realistic expectations in terms of speed.
Since the board is so rigid, beginners won’t have to worry about the board sagging or dumping them into the water once they pick up a little speed.
Of course, for work outs including yoga sessions, a rigid board is also a must. The board itself offers a decent length and width, making it suitable for a wide variety of applications.
What Are the Drawbacks?
As we mentioned earlier, this board is clearly designed for the beginner. It doesn’t offer a very flashy design and it’s lacking any type of true bungee system, one that would allow you to easily attach and secure some extra gear. For many beginners, this won’t be a deal breaker, but the seasoned paddle boarder may be looking for a board that has more features to offer.
Additionally, if you’re looking for a slick board that can quickly slice through the water, then your search will continue. Described by many as sluggish, this board offers a decent performance but it isn’t recommended for fast moving water or for the rider who has a need for speed.
Setting Up Your New Board
Setting up the SUP is simple. The board comes with one valve for inflation. Since the board is compact and stout, you can also expect a faster inflation time. The board comes with your standard hand pump. Ideally, for minimal flex the board should be pumped up to eleven PSI. While this PSI may not sound very high, especially when compared to other models that usually inflate up to fifteen or seventeen PSI, it’s perfect for the board’s length. At this level, the board is totally rigid.
Given its size, most boarders don’t expect much regarding the Adventurer’s performance. This is an affordable SUP with a compact size that just screams sluggish. However, it actually performs better than we expected. While it’s wide enough the shorter length is very noticeable when you’re paddling around. Yet, it does track well even though it’s not very fast.
The board’s thickness improves stability and buoyancy, which is a huge plus for anyone who enjoys paddle boarding during the colder months of the year.

Power in a Smaller Package
If your goal is a stable board to learn on and one that’s really convenient to use, then this model may be right up your alley.
The valve system allows you to quickly deflate the board for storage or transportation and features a secure design that prevents air from leaking during use.
It rolls right up into a nice tight package, so it won’t take up much trunk space. Depending on where you want to use the board, and what size stand up paddle board is right for you based on your weight and height, this easy to handle model just may be a perfect fit.
Of course, this type of compact, lightweight design is what makes most people choose an inflatable board over a hard model. This board’s quick deflation time combined with its low maintenance needs will have anyone who’s on the fence regarding whether to go with an inflatable SUP or an epoxy board, make a fast and easy decision.
